Support and Inspiration in Times of Change
About Moving to Balance
Moving to Balance was founded by Chelsea Harper, MA in 2005, bringing together movement andcreative expression with support for real people during times of change. After having a baby in August 2007 and going through several life transitions herself, Chelsea redesigned Moving to Balance to support busy women who juggle family, work, kids, etc. and suddenly find themselves overwhelmed by all the changes. Chelsea’s professional background and training is in counseling and dance/movement therapy. She has also done project coordination and program management in various mental health and community settings, with an eye for the details and organization that makes programs run successfully. Chelsea grew up in New York and went to college at Brown University, majoring in American Racial Identity. She has a lifelong love of the ocean and being outdoors, which led to working on sailing ships and leading wilderness therapy expeditions for teens before settling in Portland. She has been dancing and singing since preschool, and these days enjoys the antics of her toddler as well as an occasional yoga class all by herself.
