About
Chelsea Harper, MA, BC-DMT, NCC founded Moving to Balance in Portland, Oregon, in 2005. After having a baby in 2007 and going through several life transitions herself, Chelsea redesigned Moving to Balance to support busy people who struggle with balancing work and family and suddenly find themselves overwhelmed by all the changes.
Chelsea’s professional background and training is in counseling and dance/movement therapy, with 12 years of experience working with parents and families. She has also contributed her program coordination and management skills to various mental health and community settings, with an eye for the details and organization that makes programs run successfully.
Chelsea grew up in New York and went to college at Brown University, majoring in American Racial Identity. Her lifelong love of the ocean and being outdoors led to working on sailing ships and leading wilderness therapy expeditions for teens before settling in Portland with her husband and daughter. She has been dancing and singing since preschool, and these days enjoys the antics of her toddler as well as an occasional yoga class all by herself.
