Frequently Asked Questions

What is your Life Support approach?

Whether you’re having a baby, going through a career transition, need parenting advice or help creating a work-life balance, our transition coaching sessions offer this effective Life Support approach:

  1. Get Grounded. Rediscover what keeps you centered. Problem-solve how to manage stress and calm yourself in the midst of change
  2. Get Support. Look at your personal support system. Identify resources for your practical needs.
  3. Get It Together. Look at the big picture. Make practical plans with next steps.  Predict barriers and solutions, just in case.
  4. Get On With Your Life! Take action. Define and celebrate success!

We will talk, maybe write, or possibly draw some ideas on the whiteboard, take deep breaths together…whatever it takes to help you work through this model and leave feeling more optimistic about coping with your own transitions.

Do I have to be going through a really “big” change?

The size of the change isn’t what matters; it’s how it affects your life.  One week with out-of-town visitors at your house may throw you for a loop, while at the same time you start a new job and you feel like you’ve got it under control.  Any life transition that is keeping you from getting things done as usual is worth a session with us!  We will help you find support and solutions so that you don’t feel so overwhelmed.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on your situation.  Everyone can benefit from one initial consultation. Generally at least a few follow-up sessions will help you handle the stress and uncertainty that comes with the transition you’re facing. We will discuss this as part of your plan.  You are not required to schedule more than one session at a time; our services are flexible to meet your specific transition coaching needs.
